The degree course aims to ensure students adequate mastery of general scientific methods and contents, even if they are oriented towards the acquisition of specific professional knowledge. The acquisition of professional knowledge is preordained to the graduate's entry into the world of work and to the exercise of the correlated regulated professional activities, in compliance with the provisions of the law and of the European Union.

The master is a qualification of scientific improvement and permanent and recurring higher education issued on the basis of article 3 paragraph 9 of the Ministerial Decree 270/04, at the conclusion of professional post-graduate courses. The masters form an integral part of Sapienza's training offer, are institutional in nature and are an expression of specific interests of the Departments in the fields of research, innovation and didactic experimentation also with regard to the training of new professions that require the contribution of knowledge highly specialized; masters can be first level when the admission requirement is a degree, second level when the admission requirement is a master's degree or equivalent of the previous systems.

The doctoral course constitutes the third level of university education, ensures training in scientific research and provides the necessary skills to carry out research activities, also at an international level, and highly qualified professional activities; has a three-year duration.
