On October 29, 2025, the “Sino-Italian Medical Humanity Exchange Program in Digestive Surgery – The First Sino-Italian Summit Forum on Digestive Surgery” was successfully held at the Policlinico Umberto I.

.

A delegation of over 50 Chinese surgeons, including the directors of the country's leading hospitals, was welcomed to the Paolo Biocca Hall of the "P. Valdoni" Department of Surgery by Professors Giorgio Palazzini and Stefano Arcieri in collaboration with Professor Enrico Fiori. This meeting fostered a constructive dialogue between Italy and China in the field of digestive surgery.
The discussions touched on key topics such as robotic and minimally invasive surgery, the multidisciplinary management of gastrointestinal diseases, and the challenges of an aging population.
It was a moment of exchange between cultures and healthcare systems that together serve over 850 million people.
The initiative stems from the success of the Digestive System Surgery Congress, attended in China by over 200,000 professionals, and confirms the value of scientific cooperation as a bridge between countries and cultures.
The Sino-Italian Medical Humanity Exchange Program represents a first step towards new academic, clinical, and research collaborations, with the shared goal of contributing to the advancement of global healthcare.
